DJ MEO “MANIA”, A name given to me by a good friend. In July ’93 I started off with nothing. Soon after that I could be hired to play at a lot of parties. My unique style of mixing and unexpected selections of music has made me one of the favorites in different audiences. Effortlessly, the music genres flow from one into the other in such a majestic way. Some people ask them selves "How can he???? …………Damn he’s good"!!
I grew up in my country Suriname, with all types of music which is still influencing my style of playing. I have always loved music. My first experience with a DJ set and people around me was in The Saloon “a small café” where I first felt the gig. There I fell in love with DJ-ing (June ’94).
I started playing on house (birthday) parties and lots of big festivals. But after a few years I grew bigger and bigger in this world “The DJ world“ and getting more and more bookings.
From clubs to cafes to house parties, from a Salsa to a Dancehall, from a Hip hop to a House, from a Merenque to a Rock, “DJ MEO“ can be put in all of those parties, he’ll surprise the audience and leave them behind steaming and sweating.
Been busy for 14 years now and I start playing in ‘96 for Caribbean Drive, at almost every party in Suriname at cafes, clubs and house parties, “DJ MEO” maintains as one of the best and also best paid DJ’s in Suriname. I was nominated for best dj of Suriname in 2003/2004/2005 and I won in 2003.
My spin style is: Caribbean, Salsa, Merenque, Bachata, Cumbia, Latin house, Afro house, Eclectic, R&B, Hip hop, Break, Tribal, Dancehall, Bubblin', Reaggeton, House, Funk, Classics (’70/’80/’90) and Ballads. (The saying goes: “You name it, I’ll play it”)
